Guru Narasimha Temple can be seen at Saligrama in Udupi district. Guru Narasimha Temple, which is a tourist destination, has a history of thousands of years. This temple is said to have been built by Lokaditya, son of King Mayuravarman of kadamba dynasty. Gurunarasimha temple is carved out of Saligrama stone. The people here believe that the place got its name from the Guru Narasimha Temple. The people here say that there is a mention of the consecration of Lord Gurunarasimha in the Purana. When Narad maharshi travels through the world in remembrance of god's name, nature is disturbed. Gurunarasimhadeva tells Narada that if Lord Narasimha brought me buried between the conch shells and installed me in this Saligrama kshetra, everything would be fine. It is said that Narada Muni installed a black stone Narasimha idol.Guru Narasimha is standing in the yoga mudra holding a conch shell in his left hand and a chakra in his right hand. Guru Narasimha can be worshipped from 5:00 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Every day at one o'clock in the afternoon, there is an offering of rice to everyone. Inside the Gurunarasimha temple one can see Ganesha and Goddess Durga, nagabana and navagrahas outside. In guru narasimha temple, bhajans are performed in the evening. Devotees of Lord Narasimha can offer brahmamahotsava, kshi rabhisheka, milk paramanna seva, chandra butter offering, full decoration services to the deity.It is the belief of the people here that all sins will be destroyed and all our wishes will be fulfilled by immersing in the Shankha Theertha and Chakra Theertha of Guru Narasimha Temple. Every year, the Saligrama fair is celebrated as Makar Sankranti in a grand manner. It is believed that offering oil to Lord Narasimha will make grahachara a second. Yajna havans are performed here. He performs ranga puja seva to Gurunarasimha. Devotees from far away places come to see this temple
