Kavaledurga is a beautiful place with lush greenery in Theerthahalli taluk. Kavaledurga is located at a distance of 18 km from Theerthahalli and about 80 km from Shivamogga. Kavaledurga is known as Kavalu Durga. It was built in the 9th century by Venkatappa Nayaka. The fort is open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. 

Apart from the tea shop near the parking lot, no items are available in Kavaledurga. We have to take essential items like water ourselves. Kavaledurga is a beautiful fort located in the middle of a dense forest. To reach the top of the fort, one has to walk 4 km on foot.

It is a three-round edifice built out of huge sized pebbled bricks. There are several temples in the middle of the fort. It is the fourth and last capital of the Keladi kingdom. Many legends of keladi state and the architecture, art and culture of the time are situated as a testimony to this fort.
