Mullayyanagiri Peak-Chikmagalur

In Chikkamagaluru district, popularly known as The Land of Coffee, we can find mullayanagiri hill. It is situated at an altitude of 1930 m [6317 ft]. It is the highest mountain peak in Karnataka. At the top of the hill is the temple of Mullayya Swami. People also call it a monastery. Thousands of devotees come and offer prayers during the festival days to have a darshan of the deity.Mullayyanagiri Hill is located at a distance of 22 kilometers from Chikmagalur. Chikkamagaluru seems to be a tourist's paradise. Thousands of tourists from different districts come to see the beauty of this hill. A lot of tourists come to see this hill as it is a different experience if you visit it during the monsoons. The hill is very attractive at all times except during the monsoon. The surroundings are green in colour.

 In the morning and evening, the surroundings of the hill are covered with snow. When you look at it, you feel as if heaven has come down. Standing at the top of the hill, you feel as if a cloud has covered the peak. Another speciality of Mullayanagiri is that it is also the highest mountain in the region between the Himalayas and the Nilgiri hills. There is no denying the fact that visiting this hill will calm the mind. The joy of climbing this mountain peak is nothing else that can be found anywhere else.Surrounded by lush greenery, this hill is nothing more than a source of comfort to the mind. Mullayanagiri will also be serviced by a large number of private vehicles and buses. There are also several resorts and hotels in and around Mullayanagiri to stay. The road is narrow and only a car and a bike can move on it.

To see the top of the hill one has to climb the stairs on foot. The joy of climbing the stairs is different. If you climb the stairs and then reach the top of the hill, the comfort is different. Seethalayyanagiri is the place before reaching Mullayyanagiri. It is known as Seethalayyanagiri as Seethalayya performed penance at this place.There is also a temple of Ishwara here which is very beautiful to see. Thousands of people come and have a darshan of god. If you are going to visit the area around Chikmagalur, then visit Mullayyanagiri Hill. It's an experience to see the top of Karnataka.
