Mullayyanagiri Peak-Chikmagalur

In Chikkamagaluru district, popularly known as The Land of Coffee, we can find mullayanagiri hill. It is situated at an altitude of 1930 m [6317 ft]. It is the highest mountain peak in Karnataka. At the top of the hill is the temple of Mullayya Swami. People also call it a monastery. Thousands of devotees come and offer prayers during the festival days to have a darshan of the deity.Mullayyanagiri Hill is located at a distance of 22 kilometers from Chikmagalur. Another speciality of Mullayanagiri is that it is also the highest mountain in the region between the Himalayas and the Nilgiri hills. To see the top of the hill one has to climb the stairs on foot. The joy of climbing the stairs is different. If you climb the stairs and then reach the top of the hill, the comfort is different. Seethalayyanagiri is the place before reaching Mullayyanagiri. It is known as Seethalayyanagiri as Seethalayya performed penance at this place.There is also a temple of Ishwara here which is very beautiful to see.
