Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Temple at Kumbhasi in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district is the oldest temple in Karnataka. This very ancient temple was renovated in 1985.         Kumbhashi is one of the seven realms of Parashurama's creation. It was known as Harihara Kshetra in the Krata Yuga. In the Treta Yuga it is called Madhukana and in the Dwapara Yuga it is called Gautama Kshetra. Known as Kumbhasi in kaliyuga.The Ganapati temple at the top of the small hill in Kumbhasi is very attractive to look at. This hill is known as Anegudde. Devotees climb hundreds of steps to get a darshan of the deity. Thousands of devotees come to the temple and have a darshan of the deity. They find a kind of peace in the minds of the devotees. They get their desired meaning and become grateful.Thousands of devotees from different districts come to have darshan of Lord Sri. There will also be arrangements for a meal which is the prasad of the deity. Thousands of devotees who have come to have darshan of the deity accept the prasadam of the meal. Anegudde is famous in South India and is visited by devotees from all parts of the country. They will get the blessings of Lord Sri. The luxury of staying overnight and the facility of ordinary guest planets is available. During the puja, a golden and silver mask is worn on the face of the Ganapati idol.Tulabhara Seva and Moodu Ganapathi seva are performed in the service performed to this Ganapati. Devotees offer 125 or 1000 coconuts in Moodu Ganapathi seva. The priests break it and pile it up in front of the deity and perform mangalaarathi. Similarly, every year a rathotsava is held in the temple. A lot of devotees take part in the rathotsava as well as have a darshan of the deity.Another famous temple near this temple is the Mahalingeshwara Temple. This temple is very famous. If people want to do any good work, they first perform the puja of Ganapati.
